John Cullen Lighting was set up in 1981 by John Cullen. In 1983, Design Director Sally Storey was brought in to design the first Chelsea showroom.  It is her architectural background along with her design flair and vision that can still be seen throughout the company today.

In spring 2009, we moved to our current double fronted showroom in the Kings Road, over eight times the space of the original showroom.  With its unique walk-in Lighting Pod and ‘The John Cullen House’, with over 10 room sets including a garden, the showroom offers a unique way for the general public as well as architects and interior designers to see the latest lighting technology and products at work.  John Cullen now offer a wide range of in-house events to educate the industry about the power of lighting from RIBA accredited CPDs for design professionals to master classes for the general public.

John Cullen are always mindful of being energy efficient whether it is in designing a lighting scheme or designing state-of-the-art new products.  We take great pride that all our products are designed in house and manufactured in the UK.

John Cullen has recently acquired a new warehouse to provide more space for the packaging and dispatch of a growing number of products.  A new counter has been set up which allows trade customers to see the products in action.

Sally Storey is the overall Design Director and was joined by new Design Director Lucy Martin in 1997 to help oversee and inspire the growing team of lighting designers.  The Managing Director, Colin Brown, ensures the smooth running of the warehouse as well as the rest of the business.  The company now employs a team of around 35 people.

With over 30 years’ experience in lighting and product design, John Cullen is widely recognised as being at the forefront of lighting design and development in the United Kingdom.
